Cares more than he lets on. Shows it in ways that don't announce themselves. You'd have to be paying attention, and Jane usually is, except when she needs him to just say it.
Jane
Feels everything, notices everything, and has never once successfully pretended otherwise. Jane is funny the way only genuinely self-aware people are funny. She sees herself clearly, mid-sentence, in the middle of proving her own point, and keeps going anyway.
